Q1. What is Broadband?

Broadband means utilizing a high bandwidth (transmission speed) to gain fast and quality access on the Internet.
You can enjoy a wide multitude of multimedia services, such as high-speed information downloading, video-on-demand, music TV / Karaoke, home shopping, interactive network gaming, video conferenceing, distance learning, telecommunicating and community bulletin board, etc.

Q2. How about the system requirements of my computer if I want to join Broadband Internet Service?

Q3. Can I change my Login ID and password?

Q4. What should I do if I lose my password?

You can call our customer service hotline at 2119 0111 to reset your password.

Q5. How can I install LAN Card & PPPOE?

Q6. Pacific One Net is using ADSL, VDSL OR DHCP?

Pacific One Net is aim at providing quality service. We are using ADSL technology. It is because it has more applications and benefits. For example: Fast connection and efficient browsing, multi-media web site surfing, save time, no occupation of telephone line.

Q7. When the connection time is too long or idle, will my PC be disconnected or time out? Why? (Already set won't disconnect)

Yes. It is because the user will get the IP into the internet thought DHCP. Every IP will have a lead period. So, it may be auto disconnected and change IP after the lead period although the user has set won't disconnect already.

Q8. I have installed the broadband installation kit but I still cannot enjoy the service, why?

It is because the connection setting is incorrect which is under the internet tools. Please select "never dial-up" and the problem will be fixed.

Q9. What are the PC Configuration for Pacific One Net Broadband?

Hardware: Intel Pentium 4 (or higher) IBM compatible PC with CD-ROM Drive, 512MB RAM, 1GB of free hard disk space and Ethernet NIC
    Software: Windows XP

Q10. Why can't I access some/all sites?

There are many possibilities that may cause you not to be able to access either some or all sites. Prime among these are the possibility of broadband line failure between your Local Area Network and Pacific One Net, or a breakdown of the local router.

You may perform simple diagnostics tests from your local network by pinging the local router and any other machines connected to your network.

To do this, you have to perform a ping test to a server using either the fully qualified hostname, or its numeric IP address.

In this example, we will be pinging the IP equivalent of ns1.onebb.com; 202.180.160.1. A reply from ns1.onebb.com would indicate that the local host is able to contact the server, and that the server is operational. However, a reply of Bad IP Address, Request timed-out, or the ping command simply stalling would usually indicate that the local host was unable to contact the server, or that the machine is down.

    C:\>ping 202.180.160.1
Pinging 202.180.160.1 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 202.180.160.1: bytes=32 time=5ms TTL=252
    Reply from 202.180.160.1: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=253
    Reply from 202.180.160.1: bytes=32 time=6ms TTL=253
    Reply from 202.180.160.1: bytes=32 time=4ms TTL=253

After above diagnostics tests, please contact our hotline (Residential: 2119 0111 / Commercial: 2157 7888), so that we maybe determine the cause of the connection failure.

Q11. Why is my Internet access so slow?

The slow speed of the transfer of data from the Internet could be due to network congestion in the network of the overseas site, high destination server load, heavy utilization of the Internet link, or even the heavy utilization of leased circuit.

To determine the cause of slow access, you may wish to perform a traceroute, or a ping to the overseas site to test if it is still operational. Traceroute allows you to trace data packets that are routed from gateway to gateway. The IP address or hostname of each gateway is printed, together with the round trip time. An asterisk (*) would indicate a ping timed-out for the return packets.

The following displays the output of a typical traceroute session:

    C:\>tracert www.onebb.com

    Tracing route to www.onebb.com [202.180.160.5]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

    1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.0.1
    2 2 ms 2 ms 2 ms 10.30.10.43
    3 3 ms 2 ms 2 ms www.onebb.com [202.180.160.5]

    Trace complete.
